![]() News-Times/Jim Lemon Murder suspect...James Clemons is returned to his cell by Union County Sheriff Deputy John Williams after making a first appearance in court on Friday. James E. Clemons was ordered held without bond Friday on charges that include capital murder after Union County District Court Judge George Van Hook ruled there was probable cause to detain him. Clemons, 45, was extradited from Wisconsin this week to face charges stemming from the April 1992 slaying of Billy Ponder. Ponder’s body was found in his flower shop, Billy Ponder’s Flowers, then located at 1302 N. West Ave. He had been stabbed to death. Ponder was 48-years-old.
