Arrest warrants issued for suspect in fatal shooting
Two arrest warrants have been issued for a suspect in a shooting that left an El Dorado man dead last week. Cedric Jerome Hayes, 31, of 1003 E. First, is being sought for first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by certain persons in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Christopher Macon Wilson, 24, on May 8 in the 1100-block of East Hillsboro. A second warrant for parole violation has also been issued for Hayes. Capt. Billy White, of the El Dorado Police Department, said Hayes was developed as a suspect as a result of interviews conducted by investigators. White also said that Hayes has possibly left the state. An ongoing feud between Hayes and Wilson may have led to the shooting, police said previously. A witness reported hearing an argument in the area of Andrews Barbershop, 1201 E. Hillsboro, and then several gunshots. Several people then began running and yelling, and Wilson fell onto a concrete walkway in the 1100-block of East Hillsboro, the witness said. A male, presumably Hayes, then reportedly walked up to Wilson and shot him. Hayes is a black male, 6 feet, 2 inches, approximately 200 pounds, with brown eyes. White said the EPD is still conducting interviews as part of the investigation into the murder, and he urged anyone with information to call the Detective Division at 881-4810. Those with information may also call El Dorado Crime Stoppers at 863-INFO (4636). Callers can remain anonymous and information leading to an arrest and conviction can result in an award of up to $1,000. |
