Semifinalists, finalists, nominees named in Teacher Excellence Awards program

Contributed Photo Gift for the governor Eagle Scout Will Rothwell went to Little Rock to present Governor Mike Beebe with the Boy Scout’s state report, representing the DeSoto Area Council for the State of Arkansas. While there, Rothwell took the opportunity to present the governor with an El Dorado Promise Cap. Rothwell is a sophomore at El Dorado High School and the son of Beth and David Rothwell.

Semifinalists, finalists and nominees have been named in the 11th Annual Teacher Excellence Awards program, sponsored by the El Dorado Education Foundation, according to Lila Phillips, director of the EDEF.

Parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers and students turned in a new record number of nominations, with a total of 781. The nominated teachers’ peers at each school elected semifinalists. Each of the 18 semifinalists chosen will receive recognition and a cash award of $100.
