Thousands lose power in South Arkansas


A house belonging to Brent and Katie Williamson on South Magnolia was damaged late Saturday night when a tree from a neighbor’s yard fell on to their house. Many residents of the neighborhood did not have electricity Sunday afternoon as the tree took down power lines.


Thousands of people in South Arkansas remained without electricity Sunday after severe weather moved through the area late Saturday night.

Jerry Hubbard, Entergy customer service manager for the Magnolia Network, said 2,500 people were without electricity at 3:30 Sunday afternoon in Camden and El Dorado.

At the peak there were about 6,000 people in the dark, he said. Magnolia was pretty much spared when the storm passed to its north.
