In preparation for a May 19 performance, Hugh Goodwin Elementary students Zaira Nelson, from left, Penny Mathis and Kynesha Harris rehearse a dance number from ‘Three Great Friends’ on the stage at the South Arkansas Arts Center. As part of an Artist In Education project sponsored by the arts center and under the guidance of artist Maria Villegas, students have written the script and the songs, designed their own choreography, built their own props and painted their own set pieces. They will perform the show for their classmates.
