The term “safe” as it pertains to the discharging of firearms within the city limits can be defined in an amendment to the existing city firearms ordinance, Mayor Mike Dumas said during an El Dorado City Council agenda meeting Thursday.

El Dorado resident Jennifer Mathews has been working for the past week to gather signatures for a petition requesting that the city council amend the ordinance that allows for the discharge of firearms within the city limits in a safe manner.
