DAV transport van gets new home base in city of El Dorado

More volunteer drivers needed for service, current driver says

Until recently, the van was kept in Camden, but Dumas, realizing the need for the van to be positioned in El Dorado, agreed to allow the organization to park the vehicle at El Dorado City Hall.


For many local veterans, all of whom live at a great distance from the nearest VA hospital, the Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network, a provider of free transportation to VA medical facilities, is a blessing.

Without its reliable services, some of those brave men and women who served their country would be unable to afford transportation to and from medical treatment.

Nationwide, the DAV transportation program has approximately 5,000 volunteer drivers, but locally, there are only two: Joe Cheshier and Steve Terry. Neither man is paid for his ti...
