A programming glitch caused minor problems on the first day of early voting in the preferential primary and nonpartisan general elections.

The El Dorado Ward 4 positions 1 and 2 aldermen races were incorrectly entered into one of the city voting machines, according to Union County Election Commission Chairman Randy Haynie, and “a decision was made to take both machines offline and switch to paper ballots.”

Haynie said the error was discovered shortly before polls opened on Monday. The two county voting machines were not affected.
