Many in law enforcement like expanding role of DNA evidence




The United States government is expanding its ability to gather genetic evidence from anyone who is arrested by a federal agency.

While this new law has some civil rights advocates up in arms, most in law enforcement view it as a useful tool.

“If it was something we could access in state prosecution or investigation, then I think it would certainly be an asset,” said Robin J. Carroll, 13th Judicial District prosecutor.
