Second EHS class signs letters of intent to attend college with El Dorado Promise scholarships

News-Times/Larry Singer Academic Signing Day...El Dorado High School students gather in the school’s gymnasium to sign letters of intent to attend a college or university. The number of EHS graduates pursuing a college education has increased after the announcement of the El Dorado Promise, a scholarship program provided by Murphy Oil Corp.

Congressional resolutions were introduced for 281 El Dorado High School students gathered in the school gym Wednesday to sign letters of academic intent to attend college – the second EHS class to receive El Dorado Promise scholarships.

On Jan. 22, 2007, Murphy Oil Corp. announced a $50 million scholarship gift to graduates of EHS and promised to pay tuition and mandatory fees for graduates pursuing a college degree. The first Academic Signing Day was held the following May.
