New calcium chloride plant expected to bring jobs to area

PARKERS CHAPEL — With a quick turn of a gold-tipped shovel, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe on Thursday broke ground at TETRA Technology Inc.’s new calcium chloride plant on Old Feed Mill Road in Parkers Chapel.

The $100 million plant will employ 50 permanent workers and bring as many as 400 short-term construction jobs to the area, TETRA officials announced. The plant is scheduled to open in late 2009.

Beebe said the construction project provides hope to the people of South Arkansas, and he called for the entire state to honor the occasion.
