Sanctuary for felines now open in Union County

Two local citizens have taken El Dorado’s cat overpopulation problem into their own hands.

Tanya Jackson and Jesse Amason have transformed two houses Amason owns into a sanctuary for stray cats that they’ve rescued.

“We’re doing this as a personal effort,” Jackson said. “We started (rescuing cats) late last September when we found a mother cat (with) kittens that we tried to take to UCAPS. We were turned down though, because they just didn’t have any more room for cats there.”
