The annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life will begin with opening ceremonies and the survivors’ lap at 6 p.m. on Friday at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium.

Mayor Mike Dumas will serve as emcee for the first portion of the event – from 6 p.m. until midnight – according to Brandy Lowery, coordinator of this year’s event. Joe McFadden will serve as emcee from midnight until 6 a.m.

Opening ceremonies will also include a team captain lap and a balloon release by caregivers, Lowery said.
