Union County is spending money faster than it's making it.

Budget comparison reports from March show that expenditures from the county’s general fund total more than $536,000, while just slightly more than $468,300 was reported as revenue — county general, which includes the sheriff’s office and the county jail, among others, has generated more than $2.6 million since the beginning of the year.

The fund has a current balance of more than $148,200.
