Strong-Huttig millage hike sparks debate

Voices of opposition, support heard during public meeting



STRONG – Voices of support and opposition were heard Tuesday during a public meeting held by the Strong-Huttig School District concerning a 4.5 mill school millage increase.

“Nobody wants to pay more taxes,” Superintendent Saul Lusk said, “but in order to get done what we have to do, I firmly believe that this millage increase must pass.”

The district’s latest millage vote comes in the wake of a failed attempt last September to pass an 8.4 mill increase.

Two local citizens took the microphone to speak either against or in favor of the increase. ...
