Senator Gene Jeffress, (D-Louann), will be the guest speaker when the Lions Club meets at noon on Tuesday at Ryan’s.

Jeffress is senator of District 25, which includes Union, Calhoun and Ouachita counties.

He was born in Ashley County and graduated from Crossett High School in 1966. He later graduated from the University of Central Arkansas at Conway with a bachelor’s degree in musical education.

In 1971, he moved to Ouachita County with this wife, Cynthia, and began teaching in the Fairview Public School System, a career that spanned 28 years.
