Luther Bert Cherry Jr., 79, of Warren, died on Friday, July 11, 2008, at his home.

Born on May 19, 1929, in Monticello, he was the son of Luther Bert Cherry Sr. and Lillian Mae Cummings Cherry.

He was a retired employee of Potlatch Corp., a member of Central Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William Calvin Cherry and a sister, Kathy Thornton.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Henry Cherry; three sons, Charles Cherry of Hermitage, Dennis Cherry of West Virginia and Steve Cherry of Warren; a daughter, Rebecca Howard of Warren; two brothers, Horace Cherry of Monticello and Havis Cherry of North Carolina; three sisters, Gayenelle Cole of Monticello, Betty Derryberry of Tiller and Carolyn Glosup of McGehee; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today in Frazer’s Chapel. Burial with flag presentation will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Ingalls under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren.

Visitation was held Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
