Derrick Tidwell, 74, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

The son of Bennie and Maggie Stephens Tidwell, he was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Gurdon. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Victory Bible Church. He was a retired employee of the City of El Dorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Tidwell of El Dorado; two sons, Derrick D. Tidwell Jr. of El Dorado, and Roderick Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, William Tidwell of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Victory Bible Church with the Rev. Maurice Gaskin officiating. Burial will be in Keys Cemetery in Whelen Springs under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home. All public viewing will be after the funeral service.
