ZACHARY B. THOMEY

Zachary Bruce Thomey, 17, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 3, 1990, in El Dorado, to Stephen Giles Thomey and Kimberly Ann Stewart Thomey. Zachary was a Junior at Junction City High School. He was loved by all of his teachers and the entire student body. He excelled academically and received multiple awards for his achievements. Although Zachary was unable to participate in most athletic activities, he loved all sports. He cheered for his favorite teams, the Junction City Dragons and the Arkansas Razorbacks, with a passion.

He enjoyed outdoor activities and loved to go to the camp to deer hunt with his dad, brothers, uncles and friends. Zachary’s unique sense of humor always brought a smile to the face of everyone he met.

He loved life and lived his 17 years to the fullest. He was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church, where he was active in the youth group.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandfather, Bernard Thomey; and his maternal grandfather, Bruce Robertson.

Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Caleb and Andrew Thomey of El Dorado; maternal grandmother, Lovie Robertson of El Dorado; paternal grandmother, Pattie Thomey of El Dorado; aunts and uncles, Susan Parker of Pittsburgh, Pa., Charles Parker of Herndon, Va., Gary Thomey and his wife, Jean, of Leesburg, Va., Terry Ramirez and her husband, Victor, of Midland, Mich., Jayne Sewell and her husband, Mike, of El Dorado, Jimmy Thomey and his wife, Becky, of El Dorado, Ricky Hendrix of Miami, Fla., Angie Collins and her husband, Mike, of El Dorado, Tammy Taylor and her husband, Steve, of El Dorado, Cecile Means and her husband, Bobby, of Burleson, Texas, Camille Helms of Camden and Jean Ann Foster and her husband, Paul, of Conyers, Ga.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Mount Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Waites officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
