MILDRED Y. HOBBS

Hobbs
The tender soul of Mildred Yvonne McAndrews Hobbs passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was a resident of Timberlane Health and Rehab.

Born in Marion, La., on Dec.19, 1928, she was the only child of Larry and Lillian Martin McAndrews. She graduated Salutatorian from Mangham High School in 1945. On June 20, 1947, she and Arbert M. (Chick) Hobbs of Okaloosa were married in West Monroe. Shortly after moving to El Dorado in 1959, the Hobbs were founding members of St. Paul Methodist Church.

After a career in medical secretarial work, she retired in 1998. Through the years, she also worked countless band booster concession stands in El Dorado and Mountain Home.

She is preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Hobbs and fiancée Jamie Hammond, of El Dorado; son, Alan Hobbs of High Point, N.C.; grandson, Brett Johnson, and wife Jacky; and great- grandson, Ian of El Dorado; great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Schmidt of Texarkana, Texas; and Benny and Joyce Post and their family of Smackover.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. at McGuire United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Twin City Concert Band (412 Maridale Drive, West Monroe, LA 71291). Money will be used to purchase music for the community band.
