Earnest “August” Carroll, 85, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Life Touch Hospice.

The son of Jack and Emma Fountain Carroll, he was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Junction City. He was a member of New Deliverance and Worship Center.

He worked as a truck driver for many years and retired from Jerry Blackman Wood Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Gertha Mae Carroll of Junction City; nine sons, Jimmy Carroll, Henry Carroll, Ozell Carroll, Kenny Carroll and Earvin Carroll, all of El Dorado, Earnest Carroll, Jerry Carroll and Jerry Carrol Jr., all of Junction City, and Terry Carroll of Bernice, La.; six daughters, Betty Jo Hayes, Gloria Abbott of El dorado, Roberta Mosbley, Mary Levingston, Betty Ann Carroll, and Charidas Carroll, all of Junction City; one brother, Woodroff Carroll of Redland, Calif.; 78 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Deliverance and Worship Center in El Dorado with Elders Lornell Grayson and Bobbie Grayson officiating.

Burial will be in Community Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Sims Mortuary.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
