A few readers have mailed gas price comparisons to the News-Times in recent weeks and a few others have called, noting the sharp contrast between local prices and those they’ve encountered on the road.

The Associated Press reported Sunday that a national survey shows gas prices have dropped 15 cents a gallon in the past two weeks. That, of course, is not the trend in the El Dorado area.

As other parts of the state dropped well below the $3.50 margin, El Dorado was still selling gas for $3.55, give or take a penny, as of noon Monday.
