The arrest of an El Dorado man last week was yet another reminder of why Arkansas needs tougher animal cruelty laws.

When police responded to a call at a residence on North Martin Luther King a week ago today, they said they discovered three pit bulldogs “entangled in a bloody mayhem.” The dogs were covered in blood, and a smaller dog was unable to stand once the other two were moved away from it. The smaller dog sustained lacerations to its ears and neck, one dog was bleeding from the neck, and the other was bleeding from its front legs and mouth.
