Congratulations to the winners in Tuesday’s preferential primary and nonpartisan judicial elections. There were many local contested races, some of which were heated and a couple that were downright nasty. Several, however, were amicable and these races helped restore our faith in humanity.

Incumbents won in the majority of county races, but political newcomers gave several a run for their money – and surprised some by the higher-than-expected percentages they received at the polls.
