Charles Wayne Cole Sr., 67, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Medical Center of South Arkansas following a sudden illness.

Born on Jan. 27, 1941, in Shongaloo, La., he was the son of John S. and Audine Ash Cole Couch.

Charles served in the Air Force in the late 50’s and was stationed in Japan. After the service, he began a career in the jewelry business with Zales Corp., which brought him to El Dorado. After working for Zales and Hawkins Jewelry companies, he opened Cole Jewelry in 1974; for 43 years Charles was a talented maker and designer of jewelry. Charles enjoyed helping friends and restoring old cars.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Douglas, Melvin and Billy Couch; sisters, Joy Talley and Betty Rae Cole; a grandson, Robert Wayne Cole; and a granddaughter, Angel Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Franklin Cole of El Dorado; daughters, Pam Kelly and her husband, Michael, Cindy Leverette and her husband, Wade, all of El Dorado, and Wendy Wilson of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Charles Wayne Cole Jr. of El Dorado; a brother, John Cole and his wife, Mary Ann, of Homer, La.; grandchildren, Kenny Johnson, Brandon Johnson and his wife, Judy, Megan Kelly, Tristian Kelly, Lindsie Leverette, Kacie Leverette, Joseph Wilson, Jonathon Batts, Justin Batts, Devin Cole, and Dalton Cole; and a great-granddaughter, Jacey Johnson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the chapel of Bailey Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Marysville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
