Calvin R. Heird, 68, of Warren, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Bradley County Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 4, 1940 in Grapevine, the son of Henry Russell Heird and Gladys Wilkerson Hatcher Heird. He was a retired plant manager for Sykes Flooring Co., former director of Warren Bank and Trust Co., former board member of Bradley County Medical Center and a member of First United Methodist Church, where he had served as chairman of the administrative board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marie Brewer.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Johnson Heird; two sons, Russell Heird of Tulsa, Okla. and Charles Heird of Las Cruces, N.M.; one daughter, Amy Gaul of Cabot; two sisters, Carolyn Sue O’Briant of Murfreesboro and Wanda Phillips of Magnolia; and five grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, at Frazer’s Chapel in Warren. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
