DONALD L. GAIRICH



Donald Lee Gairich, 76, of McNeil, died on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at his home.

He was born on May 9, 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Donald Avery and Mary Thelma (Linhart) Gairich. He was a veteran in the United States Navy serving during the Korean War and was a service tech electrician for SMI Steel and later was employed with S&S Home Center.

He was a longtime member of Bethel Church where he served as Sunday School teacher, superintendent, deacon and elder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kirk Allen Gairich; and a step-mother, Mary L. Gairich.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Gairich of McNeil; two sons, Keith Gairich and wife, Aleana, of the Mount Vernon Community, and Michael Gairich and wife, Adele, of East Camden; four daughters, Stephanie Carlson and husband, Jim, of Nashville, Tenn., Liz Pharr of Joaquin, Texas, Nina Waller and husband, Danny, of McNeil, and Adele Pennington and husband, Calvin, of Willisville; one sister, Darlene Gairich of Magnolia; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Walthall, Jessica McClendon, LaNeah King, Joshua Carlson, Ryan Carlson, Kristy Lister, Angela Rains, Stephanie Waller, Brandy Waller, Laura Pennington and Tanner Pennington; nine great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Bethel Church with Bros. Barry Nall, Roland Depew and Haagon Lister officiating.

Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Family visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethel Church Building Fund or Life Touch Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Walthall Jr., David Rich, Danny Middleton, Tanner Pennington, Chuck Cree and Herschel Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Pletcher and Eddie Pheles.
