Dorothy Lucille Langley Darden, 84, of Smackover, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home.

Born April 30, 1924, in Smackover, she was the daughter of Alvin C. Langley Sr. and Eunice Mae Scott Langley.

She was a homemaker and a member of Lisbon United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George A. Darden Sr.; son, George A. Darden Jr.; daughter, Carolyn Ann Darden; and three brothers, Alvin C. Langley, Jr., Norman L. Langley and William Cecil Langley.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kay “Sandi” Darden of Smackover; two grandchildren, Gregory Allen Darden and wife Sue of Lisbon and Pamela Kaye Darden Jones and husband Slade of Lawson; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Cheatham and wife Bethany and Trevor Cheatham; one brother, Joe Michael Langley, Sr. and wife Sylvia of Smackover; sister, Marjorie Langley Wilson of El Dorado; special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lisbon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Lisbon Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
