Narvil Dwayne Harrod, 72, of Summit, Miss., and formerly of Warren, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Southwest Medical Regional Center in McComb, Miss.

The son of Simmie Edward Harrod and Hattie Mae Rabun Harrod, he was born March 19, 1936, in Bradley County. He was a disabled U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bradford Harrod; and sisters, Louise Doggett and Alice York Mulligan.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Smith Harrod; three sons, Michael Harrod of Muskogee, Okla., James Harrod of Summit, and Dwayne Harrod of Alexander; six daughters, Denise Crumble of Jefferson City, Mo., Samantha Harrod and Pamala Nichols, both of Kempner, Texas, Evelyn Owen and Dallas Harrod, both of Summit, and Monique Stivers of Cabot; two brothers, George Harrod of Utah, and Rudolph Harrod of Clinton; four sisters, Clara Mae York of Clarendon, Lucille Hicks of Battle Creek, Mich., Lorene Vail of Little Rock, and Patricia Mayfield of Cabot; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Union Hill Cemetery near Ingalls, under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
