Charles L. Schonert, 81, passed away July 27, 2008, at his home with his wife and family by his side.

Born May 28, 1927, in North Little Rock, the son of Paul Schonert and Marie Huether Schonert, he was a U. S. Army Veteran and retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 38 years of government service. He was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in El Dorado, where he served as president and treasurer. He also served as president and treasurer of the El Dorado Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Paul, Werner, Herbert and Edmund Schonert; and one sister, Edith Menking.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty; children, David and his wife, Lynna, of Little Rock, Carole Moore and her husband, Philip, of Fayetteville, and Terry and his wife, Katie, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Philip Moore and Kathleen and John Schonert; a sister, Lottie Pulliam; and goddaughter, Janet Pulliam of Little Rock; two brothers, Fred and his wife, Elly, of Memphis, Tenn., and Billy and his wife, Kathryn, of Sherwood.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Riley officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Edgewood Cemetery in North Little Rock under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
