Auntie was a wonderful artist, gardener, candy-maker, and volunteer. She had excellent taste and admired all things beautiful. She loved color, flowers, traveling, Buick automobiles, and kitty cats. She was the Emily Post of our family and taught many of us how to mind our P’s and Q’s. Moreover, she had a lovely knack of making the most ordinary seem extraordinary. She was a founding director of the Arkansas Oil and Brine Museum at Smackover (now the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources), having been appointed to consecutive terms by former Gov. Bill Clinton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado and a former member and officer of the El Dorado Desk and Derrick Club, South Arkansas Arts Council, Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and numerous other clubs and organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Hill St., El Dorado, AR 71730, or a charity of your choice.
