WILSILEE I. FIELDER
Wilsilee Irby Fielder, 87, of Boerne, Texas, died Friday, July 11, 2008.
She was born in Union County on Oct. 9, 1920, the daughter of Walter William Irby and Geneva Dell Owens. She received a degree from Texas State Women’s College in Denton in 1942. After graduating, she briefly worked in several areas including as a home economics teacher, a munitions plant worker, and a secretary at the Pentagon during World War II. Wilsilee and James Fielder were married in Waycross, Ga., in 1943. During Jim’s 29 years of military service, Wilsilee and their children accompanied Jim on his many tours of duty in the U.S. and Germany. After Jim retired from the Air Force in 1969, they traveled around the world. They also enjoyed many vacations with their children and grandchildren. Wilsilee was a gourmet chef and a creative person who excelled in the art of ceramics, sewing, quilting, and many other crafts. She cherished her family and friends, and throughout her life she never met anyone who remained a stranger for long. She was a member of the Bulverde Senior Center. Wilsilee was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Marlo Fielder; and her parents. Survivors include her four children, son, Ron Fielder and his wife, Janis, of Pasadena, Texas, and their two children, Katy Glass and her husband, Richard, Daniel and his wife, Robin, and their child, Gabriel; daughter, Bonnie Hancock and her husband, Roland, of Richmond, Texas. and their two children, Jenny Clifton and her husband, Bobby, Trey and his wife, Mari; daughter, Brenda Thompson and her husband, Jon, of Boerne, and their four children, Jon Eric and his wife, Sara, Justin, Marlee and Brooke; son, Kevin Fielder and his wife, Virginia, of Lake Jackson, Texas and their two children, Christina and her fiancé, Juston McGee, James and his wife, Teri and their children, Elissa and Coates. Survivors also include her sister, Dorothy Moran, of Mesquite, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, Texas 78230. Funeral will be held at noon on Thursday, July 17, at the same location. The interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bulverde Senior Center or the charity of the donor’s choice.
