RICHARD M. BARRETT



Richard Monroe Barrett, 72, of Warren, died on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Monticello Health Care Center.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1935, in Bradley County, the son of James and Lucy Beard Barrett. He was self-employed for many years, worked for Trotter Towing in Greenville, Miss., was a Mason, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Clanton Barrett; and a sister, Claudia Brown.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Barrett of Warren; two daughters, LouAnn Mitchell of Warren and Leslie Mitchell of Benton; two stepsons, Shawn Barrett of Paragould and Carol Wayne Lathan of Sheridan; a stepdaughter, Shannon Hughes of Little Rock; one brother, Bernard Barrett of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Ruth and Ruby Brown, both of Monticello, and Louise Bartlett of Morgan, Texas; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in Frazer’s Chapel. Burial will be in Moseley Cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Central Missionary Baptist Church, 609 Bond St., Warren, AR 71671.
