James David Peterson, 69, of Junction City, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his home following a brief illness.

Born on July 26, 1938, in Vienna, La., he was the son of Duster and Vida Lee Holleman Peterson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Simsboro, La., and retired after 30 years with ArkLa Gas Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Garland Max Peterson; and a spouse, Janette McMillan Peterson.

Survivors are his wife, Gwynneth Sweet Peterson of Junction City; a daughter, Kathy Peterson Jordan of Simsboro; sisters, Monnie D. Herring and Betty Delene Howard, both of Simsboro, Velma McMillan of Vienna, Yvonne Sayers of Ruston, La., Jeannette Steakley of Waskom, Texas, and Virginia Colvin of Choudrant, La.; brothers, Hilburn Peterson of Choudrant, La., and Paul Peterson of Simsboro; and a granddaughter.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church of Simsboro with the Rev. Tim Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Simsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Sweet residence, 217 Sweet Road, and from 5 until 9 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
