Arthur N. “Sam” Jones, 69, of Hampton, died on Saturday, June 28, 2008.

He was born in Hampton on July 22, 1938, the son of Alfred and Beatrice Reddin Jones. He was a Baptist and was retired as the Calhoun County judge after 10 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Jones of Hampton; a son, Clay Jones and wife, Anna, of Hampton; two daughters, Becky Hearne of Arlington, Texas, and Janice Avant and her husband, Lane, of Hampton; a sister, Rena Arnold of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Tyler Hearne, Kati and Jesse Jones, and Sammy Avant; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Nutt officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
