Rhoda Strachan, 92, of El Dorado, died Monday, June 23, 2008. at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 14, 1916, in Tubal Township of Union County, she was the daughter of M.D. and Lillian Richardson Welch. She had been an employee of J & M Poultry at one time and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were her husband, Arthur “Pete” Strachan; four sisters, Henrietta Brantley, Viola Lewis, Julia Murray and Evelyn Welch; and one brother, Carlton Welch.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Roland Welch of Farmerville, La., and Charles Rodney Strachan of Norphlet; two daughters, Linda Lil Strachan of Bow, Wash., and Sharon Lee Shannon of Monument, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home be in Jolley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
