NANCY M. HENRY
Nancy McDonald Henry, 92, of Springdale, passed away June 22, 2008, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home in El Dorado.
She was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Little Rock, the daughter of Frederick Valentine McDonald and Hattie Thompson McDonald. She was raised in Smackover and spent most of her adult life in Springdale. She was a member of the Springdale First United Methodist Church where she was a long time Sunday School teacher and past president of UMW. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and life member and financial advisor for 30 years to Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Gamma Nu Chapter at the U of A. She was past president of the Springdale Library board, member of P.E.O., Beta Sigma Phi and Northwest Arkansas Dental Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dr. Howard Taliaferro Henry; a brother, Frederick Leon McDonald; a sister, Uarda McDonald Murphy; and special friend, Mary Louise Pianalto. Survivors include a son, Donald H. Henry and his wife, Teague, of Maumelle; a daughter Candace Henry Nobles and her husband, Hutton, of El Dorado; grandchildren, Marshall Henry and his wife, Alisa, of Alexandria, Va., Richard Henry and his wife, Laurie, of Kansas City, Mo., Nick Henry and John Martin Kincannon of Maumelle, Ruth Zearfoss and her husband, Craig Peterson, of Barre, Mass., Sarah Henry of Memphis, Tenn., Elizabeth Nobles Long and her husband, Matthew, of El Dorado, and Catherine Nobles Medlock and her husband, Sam, of El Dorado; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the following special friends and caregivers: Sue and Sam Bolin, Carol Tuck, Pat Biggs, Mary Ward, Louise Scott, Mary Ann White, Annie Powell and the staff of Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale with the Rev. Judy Van Hoose officiating and under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Visitation will also be Thursday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Atrium in Springdale.
