Virginia Carruth Burks, 90, of Warren, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Wagnon Place Nursing Home.

The daughter of Martin Chapman Carruth and Pearl Green Carruth, she was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Bradley County. She was a 33-year employee of C.W. Hankins and Son’s and a lifelong member of First Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Thomas Burks; her parents; a son, Daniel T. Burks; brothers, Samuel Carruth, Charles Carruth, and Raymond Carruth; and a sister, Vera Roberts.

Survivors include a son, Jerry D. Burks of Warren; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jim Bales officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
