Jane Earnest Houston, 89, of Kempner, Texas, formerly of Cushing, Okla., died on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Springs Oaks Nursing Facility in Lampassas, Texas.

Born on May 14, 1919, in Stroud, Okla., she was the daughter of Thomas T. and Anna Belle Sample Earnest.

She was a retired school cafeteria worker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Theodore Houston; daughters Ruby Coleen Henderson and Freda Louise Houston; a brother, Elvin Earnest; and sisters Goldie Reeves and Audrey Morehouse.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Dale Houston of Merced, Calif., and Jimmy Shelton Houston of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Patricia Harrod of Cushing; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Union Hill Cemetery in Ingalls. Burial will be under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
