John Wayne Hickman, 71, of New Caney, Texas, and formerly of Warren, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home.

He was born March 19, 1937, at Warren, the son of Ruby Grider Hickman and William Proctor Hickman.

He served in the U.S. Army, was a retired pipe fitter and mechanical supervisor for DuPont Chemical Plant in LaPorte, Texas, with 34 years of service. He was a former member of the Bayshore Baptist Church of La Porte. He was a member of Second Baptist Church-North Campus, Houston.

He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Jimmy Dwayne Hickman.

Survivors include his mother; his wife, Edna Patrick Hickman; two sons, Jerry Wayne Hickman of Deer Park, Texas, and Johny Dean Hickman of Sylacauga, Ala.; one daughter, Amy Baker of Friendswood, Texas; one brother, Mack Robert Hickman of Killeen, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frazer’s Chapel in Warren. Burial will be in Outlaw Cemetery at Sumpter under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
