DOLWYN M. ELKINS



Dolwyn Marie “Judy” Elkins, 72, of Strong, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at her home.

She was born on May 16, 1935, the daughter of John Wells and Jonnie Vera and Albert Lee Hixon. Judy owned and operated a tomato farm in Bradley County, owned and operated a logging company, C&D Wood Inc., and managed a bait shop at Careyville Landing. She later managed the Felsenthal Campgrounds until she retired. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rodney Lee Osborn; a sister-in-law, Lillie Rose Wells; her loving first husband, Clarence Woody Wood; and her second husband, Robert Dean Elkins.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Osborn Sr. and his wife, Judy Lee, of St. Joseph, La.; a daughter, Judy Ann Osborn and her husband, Gabriel Martinez, of Troup, Texas; a stepson, Steven Wood; and a stepdaughter, Stephanie Wood; four brothers, John Wells and his wife, Jean, of El Dorado, William Wells and his wife, Eddie Joyce, of LaRose, La., Major Lee Hixon of Strong and Garland Hixon and his wife, Debbie, of Lafayette, La.; and one honorary brother, Livy Norsworthy of El Dorado; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren-in-laws; 31 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who will miss her tremendously.

She leaves behind a void that will not easily be filled.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at New London Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Diffie officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
