Helen Burns, 75, of Blossom, Texas, formerly of El Dorado, died on Friday, May 2, 2008.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at St. Mark United Methodist Church in El Dorado with Pastor Dennis Cates and the Rev. Rebecca Wiseman officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Homer in Paris, Texas.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

She was born on July 19, 1932, in El Dorado, to Ervin and Berta Benson Jones. She married Jack Burns in El Dorado on Oct. 27, 1950. She was a member of Martin Memorial United Methodist Church in Detroit, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Jack D. Burns; children Mark Burns of Hot Springs and Janis Slusher and husband, Rudy, also of Blossom; her mother, Berta Jones of El Dorado; a grandson, Daniel Crow of St. Augustine, Fla.; a granddaughter, Erica Slusher; a sister, Billie Perdue and husband, Allen, of El Dorado; an aunt, Polly Doggett of Richton, Miss.; her in-laws, Johnnie Burns of El Dorado, John and Marilynn Burns of Weatherford, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, E.J. Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Helen’s honor to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923, or to a charity of your choice.

The family will be at the home of Billie Perdue at 509 Garland Ave., in El Dorado
