FLOYD G. JERRY

Floyd Gene Jerry (Gene), of El Dorado, passed on to be with our Lord in Heaven on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Life Touch Hospice House in El Dorado. He was 68 years old. He was a member of Liberty Baptist church in Lawson. He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, the National Rifle Association and the Teamsters Union.

Born Jan. 15, 1940, in the Lawson community, he was the first son of Leonard Ray and Burnette Jerry.

After graduating Parkers Chapel High School in 1958, he married Clydus Francis Rodgers, the love of his life, of Sept. 5, 1959. He worked as a route salesman for the 7-Up Bottling Co. and later for the RC Bottling Co. He retired from Miller Transporters in 1994 after 25 years of service.

He was a devoted, fun-loving husband, a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. An avid deer hunter and motor cyclist, he loved the outdoors and spending time at the coffee shop with his many friends.

His parents, Leonard Ray and Burnette Jerry, and his younger brother Roy Mason Jerry preceded Gene in death.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Clydus Francis Rodgers Jerry; two sons, Dennis R. Jerry of Lawson and Randal G. Garner and his wife, Amy, of Smackover; two daughters, Kathy L. Simmons and her husband, Tom, of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Kyra J. Smith and her husband, Çhris, of El Dorado; two sisters, Mary Poole and her husband Robert of Strong, and Sharlotte Moreno and her husband Ace of Lawson; 11 grandchildren, Heath, Jerry, David and Stacy Slater, Kristopher and Kristi Simmons, Blake Smith, Clint Smith, Sarah Jerry and Lori Simmons, Jackson and Gaven Leach and two great-granddaughters, Gabriella Slater and Delilah Slater.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Josh Rodgers, Kenny Rodgers, Steven Jerry, Scott Jerry, Mark Jerry and Teddy Rodgers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Perry’s Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Clay Hale and Bro. Ronnie Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Home.
