PETIT JEAN STATE PARK — It’s supposed to be 20 degrees tonight where I write this, atop one of the most special places in Arkansas. But, if you read my column regularly you know I’ll have a massive fire going all night.

Arkansas’ first state park here at Petit Jean remains one of the jewels in this part of the country. On a Wednesday, the Harringtons pretty much have the park to ourselves. Just a few other visitors have been spotted. In fact, the birds and squirrels so far outnumber other humans. More on our trip later.
