Days later, my jaw still fills a tad disjointed from the drop it made as I contemplated the appearance of automaker executives before the Senate Banking Committee last week.

Rick Wagoner of General Motors, Alan Mulally of Ford and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler, all chief executive officers of their respective companies, visited the nation’s capital to plea their case. The auto industry needs $25 billion in taxpayer money to avoid bankruptcy.
