I figure I’ll get at least a few nasty letters over this, but it’s got to be said: drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is not the answer to our nation’s fuel crisis.

At best, it’s a temporary solution to a long-term problem – sort of like trying to plug a leak in the Hoover Dam with a piece of bubble gum – and all the cries from the Republicans about how such drilling will take care of our dependence on foreign oil is, quite frankly, a bunch of hoo-ha, to put it politely.
