A minor point, but the bird on the front page of the Thursday, July 10th’s paper is not a turkey vulture, but a Mississippi Kite, a.k.a. a “mosquito hawk.” It is a very graceful bird with more slender wings and a tail that fans out and twists back in forth in flight as the bird wheels and turns. It’s grayish in color, but in silhouette against a bright sky appears almost black.
