Junction City junior high wins second straight

JUNCTION CITY – Jamal Johnson ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns, as Junction City’s junior high football team won its second straight by topping Strong 38-0 Thursday night.

The Dragons (2-0-1) will embark on a three-game road trip that begins next week at Hampton.

Johnson got the Dragons on the scoreboard by scoring on touchdown runs of 56 and 29 yards in the opening stanza that made it 16-0 after Decoreon Dubose’s successful two-point conversions.

Junction City padded its lead in the second period thanks to its passing attack.

After the running in the aforementioned two-point conversions, Dubose threw a 40-yard strike to Chris Miller that gave the Dragons a 24-0 lead after Dubose’s third successful two-point conversion of the first half.

The Dragons led by the same margin at intermission, and they pulled away in the third quarter.

Johnson scored his final touchdown of the game on a 15-yard run. He also ran in the two-point conversion to make it 32-0.

Chase Wood capped the scoring in the contest with a 37-yard run in the fourth quarter.

In addition to Johnson’s big night, Dubose went 2-of-4 passing for 48 yards with a touchdown while adding 52 yards rushing on 10 carries.
