The El Dorado Police Department is continuing its investigation into an incident in which shots were fired at several people during an argument that reportedly began over a text message.

Just after 11 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 1400 block of North Roselawn.

No injuries were reported.

The complainant told police that two women she knew — a woman and her mother —arrived at her North Roselawn residence “upset and trying to argue over a threating text message” that was sent to the complainant’s cellphone.

The complainant said a man who was sitting inside the women’s vehicle exited the vehicle and began firing shots at the residence.

She said she was standing on the porch with another woman who lives at the residence, and her two adult sons were inside the house at the time.

The three suspects ran back to the vehicle and drove south on Roselawn, the complainant said, adding that her sons gave chase.

Witnesses corroborated the complainant’s account of the incident, noting that when the two female suspects knocked on the complainant’s door, several family members exited the residence.

Witnesses also said “three or four shots” were fired.

Police said they recovered a spent round inside a trash can next to the residence.

The complainant told police the feud is believed to have stemmed from romantic relationships one of the North Roselawn residents and one of the female suspects have had with the same man.

Lt. Scott Harwell of the El Dorado Police Department said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
