An El Dorado woman is scheduled to make her first appearance in court Monday on a charge of second-degree domestic battering for allegedly using a liquid agent to burn the genitals of her romantic partner, causing his skin to peel off the affected areas.

Arnella T. Jones, 37, of 1600 Short E. Hillsboro, Apt. B8G, was arrested Sept. 14 after admitting to El Dorado Police Department investigators that she poured boiling water mixed with laundry detergent onto the genitals of 33-year-old Aluster O. Hamilton while the pair was engaged in sexual intercourse.

At 9 p.m. Sept. 13, police were called to Medical Center of South Arkansas in reference to an assault.

Hamilton told officers that Jones, whom he described as “an occasional friend,” poured a “glassful of an unknown substance” on his genital area during the intimate moment.

He said he jumped up and realized he was burning.

Hamilton said Jones refused to tell him what substance she had poured on him but said she did it because she had heard “he was fooling around with another woman.”

He drove home and when he got into the shower, he noticed that his skin was peeling off and blisters had formed in the affected area. Hamilton told police.

Hamilton said he immediately sought medical treatment for his injuries.

Police said there were several blisters on and skin missing from Hamilton’s thighs and genitals, and he sustained second-degree burns.

He was treated and released from MCSA.

Jones is slated for a first appearance hearing in 35th Judicial District Court at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Public intoxication arrest

Brian M. Givens, 47, vice president of entertainment/talent relations with the Murphy Arts District, was temporarily detained in the Union County Jail early Sept. 14 following an arrest for public intoxication during an incident in which he commandeered a taxi cab that had driven him home and allegedly struck the driver.

At 11 p.m., officers responded to a report of unauthorized use of a vehicle at a residence in the 2300 block of Pathway.

The owner of El Dorado Taxi told officers that an employee of the Griffin Restaurant, 101 E. Locust, had called for service, and when he arrived, he was instructed to drive Givens to a residence in the 2300 block of Pathway and give Givens his keys once Givens was inside the residence.

The complainant said that when they arrived at the Pathway residence, he helped Givens to the front door.

While he was attempting to open the door, Givens shoved him inside the residence, walked back to the taxi in the driveway and sat in the driver’s seat, the complainant said.

He told police that Givens then drove away, striking the complainant in the upper right leg and running over the tip of his right foot.

A short time later, police found the vehicle at the intersection of West Main and Oak Valley with Givens asleep inside.

Officers noted that the engine was not running at the time.

Police said that after several attempts, they were able to rouse Givens, who smelled strongly of intoxicants and had difficulty standing and walking once he exited the vehicle.

Givens refused to take a portable breathalyzer test, and he was held in the UCJ for eight hours for detoxification, according to a police report.

The owner of the taxi service declined medical treatment and to press charges against Givens.

Police said Givens was subsequently charged with public intoxication, a misdemeanor.

His vehicle, which was parked in the MAD district, was towed from the scene, police said.
